Highlights of the Year 2000

The year opened with the millennium celebrations and we had a flat in London that Rhys had taken previously while on an assignment at Nat West in the City.   The assignment finished towards the end of 1999 when RBS took over NatWest and Rhys then moved to work in Sunderland, but Jean was working at Royal Mint Court in the City and our commuting was long distance again.  Our flat was at Westferry near Canary Wharf and was very nice, and we tried to do some tourist things while we were there.

Click to enlarge (60k) We also had a few visits to us and on one weekend our friends Margaret and Mike stayed with us and we went on the London Eye and the wobbly Millennium Bridge on the only full day it was open that year.

Our holiday was in the Algarve region of Portugal and we went to Gibraltar for the middle weekend to see another friend, Sandra, so we toured with her.  Gibraltar was interesting but not really a holiday destination and a weekend was long enough, but it was nice to see Sandra again and we might go sailing from there in the future.
